Working Holiday Coffee Bar Opening Hours:
Saturday May 7, 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Celebrate Salmonberry Days with Madame Beespeaker from 11am-1pm. Use your crafting skills to make messages for the bees and take home some native pollinator seeds to plant in your own garden. Check out her new book Victory Gardens for Bees: A DIY Guide to Saving the Bees published by Douglas and McIntyre. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Lori Weidenhammer is a Vancouver-based artist originally from Cactus Lake, Saskatchewan. For nearly a decade she has been exploring the persona Madame Beespeaker, reviving the tradition of telling the bees. She is passionate about art that creates and strengthens community bonds and makes the world a better place for humans and bees.
Special thanks to all the DCC volunteers who helped me make and serve pour over coffees for community members and to Lori who shared her knowledge, passion and new book on how we can help to support bee populations by growing native pollinator plants and flowers. And to Leah Weinstein and the Social Fabric knitters for a job well done on the textile painting and knitting support.
